What affects your siding price
Price range
New siding costs about $5,554 to $17,717, including materials and labor. Removing old siding and getting permits can add $150 to $1,500. Not a quote or an offer. Your price comes from the installer. Source: Angi, 2026.
What moves the number
- Size of your house. More wall space means more siding and more hours.
- Material. Vinyl costs the least. Fiber cement is tough and handles fire and bugs well. Wood looks classic but needs the most upkeep.
- Shape of your house. Lots of corners, peaks and windows mean more cutting. That adds labor.
- Number of stories. Two- and three-story homes need more ladders or scaffolding.
- Tearing off the old siding. Most jobs include removal, but check.
What to ask before you choose
- "What happens if you find rot under the old siding?" Ask for a price per sheet of wood before work starts.
- "Will you add house wrap?" It's a layer under the siding that keeps water out. It matters a lot.
- "Does the price include trim, soffits and gutters coming off and going back on?"
- "What warranty covers the siding, and what covers your work?"
- "Are you licensed and insured?" Ask to see proof.
The catch: if your house was built before 1980, the old siding or paint might contain asbestos or lead. Ask the company how they check for it and handle it safely. Removing it the wrong way can make your family sick.
