The short answer

New gutters cost about $2,200 to $5,000 for most homes. That's about $12 to $25 per foot. Material and the height of your home matter most.

What affects your gutter price

Price range

Gutter installation costs about $12 to $25 per foot. Most homes pay $2,200 to $5,000 total. Not a quote or an offer. Your price comes from the installer. Source: HomeGuide, 2026.

What moves the number

  • Length. More roof edge means more gutter.
  • Material. Aluminum is the most common and costs less. Steel, copper and zinc cost more.
  • Height. Two- and three-story homes need more ladders and safety work.
  • Seamless or sections. Seamless gutters are made on-site to fit. They leak less.
  • Wood behind the gutter. Rotten boards along the roof edge (called fascia) must be fixed first.

What to ask before you choose

  • "Are these seamless?"
  • "What size gutters and downspouts?" Bigger ones handle heavy rain better.
  • "Where will the downspouts drain?" Water should flow away from your foundation.
  • "What happens if you find rot behind the old gutters?" Get the price in writing before work starts.
  • "Are gutter guards included, or extra?" Guards can help, but they're often a big upsell. Ask for the price with and without them.

The catch: gutters are really about protecting your foundation. If downspouts dump water right next to your house, you can end up with basement leaks or foundation cracks. Make sure water goes at least a few feet away.
